Yaya Toure has finally decided to call time on his professional football career. He had a successful career where he represented sides like Barcelona and Manchester City.

The Ivorian has won many trophies throughout his career. The most notable ones being the Champions League with Barcelona in 2008/09, the African Cup of Nations in 2015, two La Liga titles and three titles in England. He was also named the African Footballer of the year four consecutive times from 2011 to 2014.

The 35-year-old has not played since leaving Olympiacos in December 2018.

“I say this for the first time: Yaya decided to end his career as a champion, the farewell match given to him by Manchester City, in principle, was the real end of his playing career. Not only in this team, but in general"

According to Toure’s manager, he plans to pursue a management career.

"We see many players who continue their careers at a sufficiently mature age and this is commendable. But Yaya and I chose a different path: to leave as a champion and start a new stage in life - a career as a coach, in which, I am sure, Yaya will reach even greater heights than those he achieved as a football player. There are no African coaches in the English Premier League."
