It looks like CES 2020 will be a busy one for LG. CES is commonplace for LG to announce its new lineup for the year, and this year will be no different. For 2020, LG has a rollable TV, eight “Real 8K” TVs, as well as an all-new OLED TV set to be their smallest OLED panel offering.
For the past two years, LG has teased us with rollable TV prototypes that roll upwards out of their boxes. However, this year’s model takes a different approach. Rather than rolling upwards from a box, the upcoming model will be nestled in the ceiling and will roll downwards, much like a projector screen.
Besides its rollable TV, LG plans on unveiling eight new 8K TV models. With these models, LG promises a “Real 8K” performance that surpasses even Samsung’s 8K-certified QLED technology. But before you get too excited, you will still need 8K content in order to fully experience “Real 8K” to its fullest. The planned models include two OLED sets to be added to the “Signature” brand and six LCD sets to be added to the “NanoCell” brand. The 8K line will feature LG’s Alpha9 AI processor as well as their ThinQ AI technology. It doesn’t sound like a major upgrade from previous models, apart from LG’s promise of future compatibility with Amazon’s Alexa Premium Far-Field Voice.
Last but not least, LG also announced its new 48-inch OLED TV display. This model will become LG’s smallest OLED TV panel on offer, a title previously held by their 55-inch OLED TV. This comes as a relief to owners of small apartments where a 55-inch TV is overkill.
In terms of price and availability, LG remains tight-lipped on all newly announced models. We will have to wait a little longer to find out how much each will cost and when they will be available for purchase.
