Pearl Jam announces their first album “Gigaton,” after years, and a new tour

The popular American rock band, Pearl Jam, announced that they are releasing a new album named “Gigaton” and a tour across North America alongside it. Gigaton will mark their 11th studio album, and is also available to preorder now. The album is their first album since Lightning Bolt in 2013. Lightning Bolt went on to win “Best Recording Package” at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. Gigaton is expected to release on March 27, 2020.

The band launched a worldwide tour in 2018, with shows in Brazil, Chile, and other performances in Europe and North America. Pearl Jam also released a song, Can’t Deny Me, which hit the 11th spot on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart. Pearl Jam will be touring Europe in Summer 2020. A 16-date tour of North America will start on March 18, before the release of Gigaton.

Here is what lead guitarist Mike McCready said in a statement: “Making this record was a long journey. It was emotionally dark and confusing at times, but also an exciting and experimental road map to musical redemption. Collaborating with my bandmates on Gigaton ultimately gave me greater love, awareness, and knowledge of the need for human connection in these times.”

Pearl Jam also announced on Twitter that they are partnering with Ticketmaster to prevent the resale of tickets by ticket resellers. Ticketmaster will be powering Pearl Jam concerts with SafeTix, a concert ticket that uses a constantly changing barcode in order to prevent resale of the ticket.

SafeTix tickets cannot be screenshot, copied, or shared with another person, eliminating the threat of fans being forced to buy expensive resold tickets. Ticketmaster has had issues with Pearl Jam with the past as the band accused them of not reducing their high service fees. This new partnership suggests that all that is in the past now.
