United States President Donald Trump unveiled the U.S. Space Force logo on Twitter, Friday afternoon. The logo was designed after consulting with military officials, designers, and others. The United States Space Force will be joining the U.S. military as the sixth branch, after the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Gaurd.
Trump tweeted: After consultation with our Great Military Leaders, designers and others, I am pleased to present the new logo for the United States Space Force, the Sixth Branch of our Magnificent Military!”
There has been a lot of ridicule regarding the logo since its unveiling, as it seems to closely resemble the logo of “Starfleet Command” from the popular TV series and movie series, Star Trek.

Founder and CEO of Cool Quit, Eugene Gu, tweeted how the United Federation of Planets logo and a communicator badge could have been combined to create the logo.
He also mentioned that the 1959 NASA logo could have been the initial inspiration for Star Trek’s graphics in the first place.
Popular comedian and author Tim Young hinted at the merchandising opportunity for the logo. However, it is illegal to sell merchandise under the U.S. government’s logos, but it’s a nice idea!
One twitter user even made a joke regarding the salute in Star Trek, and how it will become the official salute in the United States Space Force.
