Americans voluntarily self-quarantine themselves over coronavirus fears

The tremendous fear of the recent COVID-19 or novel coronavirus seems to be on the rise as several American travelers are voluntarily self-quarantining themselves after returning from China. The fear is so high that even though these people don’t show any of the symptoms like fever and cough, and don’t even pose any threat to others, they are keeping themselves in isolation for weeks.

They were just flagged by the health officials at the airports and are now being asked to stay home for 14 days, which is supposedly the incubation period of the disease. They are also told to avoid contact with other people as much as possible and also to observe any symptoms.

Although health experts say that these people do not pose any risks to the people nearby, these American travelers are taking every possible step to make sure they don’t catch this disease.

There are about 15 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the United States. According to the WHO, common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties. Regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, avoiding close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness are some of the preventions recommended by WHO.
