With the coronavirus outbreak closing doors in all industries, even schools have had to close down all over the world. With this happening, most of these institutions have turned to online learning. Some of the tools they are using for this are Zoom and Google Classroom. Google Classroom has become one of the most popular platforms to use, with over 50 million downloads thus far.
A data program called AppBrain stated that Google Classroom wasn’t even in the top 100 in the beginning of the month. It has rapidly gained traction since then, and by last week it has become part of the top 5. This app has in fact become one that has been downloaded all over the world. Some of the countries where it has been newly installed the most are Indonesia, Mexico, Canada, Finland, Italy, and Poland.
In these desperate times, it is a wonderful sight to see how free software is being used to continue people’s education. It’s always a welcome sight to see software being used so our students can keep learning. What software do you all use during this time of crisis?
