Disney might stream ‘Black Widow’ online instead of in theatres

The coronavirus pandemic has affected 873,008 people worldwide, out of which there have been 43,275 deaths and 184,596 recoveries.

COVID-19 – Just a health crisis?

A pandemic causes economic and social tension due to increasing rates of illnesses and worker absenteeism. Both Europe and the United States face a deep economic crisis. Though President Donald Trump says that the pandemic is a health crisis – not an economic one, statistics show the depleting stocks of the US.

This pandemic has not only affected lives but has also disrupted the functioning of various fields. The entertainment business has taken a serious hit as the directors of many TV shows, and movies are being forced to postpone the premiers of world-class films that were supposed to debut in 2020.

Many movie’s premiers like James Bond, No Time to Die, Fast and Furious 9, Mulan, Antlers, and Blue Story are delayed until a later date.

Disney considers online streaming

Disney’s Onward is now available online and will stream on Disney Plus starting April 3. Closed-doors of world-wide theatres has led Disney to consider streaming Black Widow online.

The Black Widow is a film based on the famous Marvel comics, produced by marvel studios and distributed by Walt Disney motion pictures with an outstanding cast – Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, O.T. Faghbenle, William Hurt, Ray Winstone, and Rachel Weisz.

The Black Widow would have been another billion-dollar movie for Disney, and it was on track for a massive 130 million dollar opening. It’s not clear how Disney plans to make money from online streaming. Moreover, Disney plus is only available in the US, Canada, and a few European markets.

given the current circumstances, we are pleased to release this fun, adventurous film to digital platforms early for audiences to enjoy from the comfort of their homes.

Director Dan Scanlon and Producer Kori Rae

This pandemic has caused Disney a great financial loss as many hit blockbusters of 2020 are now either delayed or have to be streamed online. All shops that sell Disney merchandise, parks, and cruise line business are also halted.
