Artemis Fowl is a sci-fi fantasy movie based on the 2001 bestseller of the same name by Eoin Coffer. The movie is directed by academy nominated Sir Kenneth Branagh starring Ferdia Shaw, Collin Ferrell, and Judi Dench.
The movie’s release is also being affected due to the coronavirus pandemic. The release was initially scheduled to take place in August of 2019, which was later pushed back to May 2020. On the 3rd of April 2020, the President of Content and Marketing, Disney+, in a press release told, “With audiences largely unable to attend theatres in the current environment, we are thrilled to offer the premiere of Artemis Fowl on Disney+. Director Kenneth Branagh and his spectacular cast take viewers right into the vibrant, fantasy world of the beloved book, which fans have been waiting to see brought to life onscreen for years. It’s great family entertainment that is the perfect addition to Disney +’s summer lineup.”
Talks about making a movie based on the novel have been there for quite a long time. Disney, in July 2013, announced that it’d be making the movie along with The Weinstein Company. A lot of fans are eager to watch this movie and the producers have really considered it. Disney might be really taking a hit in doing so since the movie’s budget almost 125 million dollars, and the movie not hitting the theatres is a big loss.
