Making his debut with a dark-yet-enticing compilation album, Trilogy, in 2011, Abel M. Tesfaye, alias The Weeknd, has never looked back. The Starboy singer has been breaking records and climbing the stairs of success ever since. He has amassed a total of 3 Grammy Awards, along with several other awards and nominations, under his belt.
Ruling the charts like a king
This 56-minutes long soundtrack comprises 14 tracks, with every song being seemingly better than the last one. With the songs having a 90’s R&B and pop feel, this album is a pure classic to vibe with.
The Weeknd sits atop the US Billboard 200 chart with his new album, After Hours, spending the second consecutive week on the No.1 position, while his single, Blinding Lights, rules the Billboard Hot 100 chart surpassing Roddy Ricch‘s single, The Box. With this, The Weeknd breaks the record of the largest streaming week for an R&B album previously set by the American R&B artist, Summer Walker, with her debut studio album, Over It, in 2019.
As of now, the Canadian R&B crooner has moved a total of 444,000 equivalent units, which includes 275,000 copies as pure album sales. This is a huge number in itself, thereby making it his 4th number-one album and also one of the biggest critically acclaimed albums of the year.
