The 2020 edition of American Idol is brought to an impromptu pause owing to the coronavirus pandemic. The virus has claimed over 100,000 lives, having smitten more than 1.5 million people worldwide. These adverse conditions call for creative ideas to get going with the telecast of new episodes of the show.
Long time host, Ryan Seacrest, informs fans that the crew is working on taking constructive measures to come up with new episodes for the remainder of the season. Adding to this, he said that the format would be different than what fans are accustomed to.
The creators have come up with an amazing idea of ‘live shows.’ But, the ‘how-to’ of the plan is yet to be finalized. On 12th April, pop sensation and judge of the show, Katy Perry, addressed her fans on Facebook live and mentioned, “We’re gonna all have to be really creative – I know we are going to be really creative.”
The live shows were set to commence from 6th April, but instead were replaced by two repeat telecasts of Celebrity Family Feud, followed by a primetime special, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Secrets & Surprises.
As of now, ABC is set to air the second part of American Idol: This Is Me on 19th April, having already telecasted the maiden episode on 12th April. These two episodes shed limelight on the lives of the top 20 contestants with unprecedented footages and performance highlights. The continuation of the show post these two episodes is the big deal that the American Idol staff is currently working on.
