The Mandalorian Season 2: Baby Yoda first look from behind-the-scenes

During Star Wars Day (May 4), The Mandalorian director Robert Rodriguez revealed the first-ever behind-the-scenes look of Baby Yoda for Season 2 on Instagram – and “the child” looks exactly the same. However, it is thrilling for fans to see a reminder that season 2 is underway, something important to see especially during these troubling times.

I am truly humbled to say I have now had the very rare privilege of directing the biggest star in the universe.

By “star,” it is quite obvious that Rodriguez is referring to the viral and beloved “Baby Yoda” (not actually Yoda’s baby, contrary to popular opinion).

The picture shows Rodriquez posing with the “Baby Yoda” puppet. Keep in mind that the puppet shown in the image costs a whopping $5 million to make, and is probably worth even more than that for the hard-core Star Wars fan. The image doesn’t give anything away except for the fact that it was taken aboard the set of Mando’s ship.

Season 1 of The Mandalorian left fans with numerous cliff hangers and we expect season 2 to at least resolve a few major questions. How is Moff Gideon still alive after that crash? What is his real backstory with Mando? Why does he have the darksaber?! Season 1 also ended with the Mandalorian leaving off with Baby Yoda in search of where he came from.

We can obviously expect Moff Gideon to return as the antagonist, chasing Mando and the Child across the galaxy. The most awaited answers are those related to Baby Yoda. Where does he come from? What is his species? How is he so connected with the force? Comparing Star Wars timelines ruled out the possibility of Baby Yoda being a direct child of Yoda himself. Since even the origins of Yoda are unknown, it makes waiting for the second season of The Mandalorian even more exciting!
