The Percy Jackson novel series is getting made into a Disney+ television series.
The series author, Rick Riordan, took it to Twitter to announce the project. First, Rick and Becky posted a short video announcing that the Percy Jackson series is airing on Disney+ soon. Then a follow-up spoke about how the television series will follow the same order as the novels with The Lightning Thief being the first season of the five. He addressed his fans about the authenticity of the show and confirmed that he, personally, will be monitoring every aspect of the show.
There has been a previous attempt to create a Percy Jackson franchise, but it failed miserably. The Percy Jackson film franchise was discontinued after two films. The film series starred Logan Lerman as Percy Jackson, Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth Chase, and even Pierce Brosnan, playing Chiron. Additionally, the films were directed by Chris Columbus, the guy behind the original Home Alone, 1 and 2. Nobody knows what went wrong, but the movie gathered a lot of hatred from the audience. I am quite frankly surprised that they even made another one – and that turned out to be even worse.
Disney+ is right now trying to pocket as many television series and movies as it can since it’s a brand new streaming service. Although Disney’s got loads of old content, it barely has any new original ones. The Marvel franchise films and all of Disney’s animated movies are the best things about Disney+ yet. So it needs new shows like these to grow on and to compete with giants like Netflix and HBO GO.
