WWE Monday Night Raw (June 1) results

The show started with “Monday Night Messiah,” Seth Rollins hosting Rey Mysterio’s retirement ceremony. Rollins presented a video package of highlights from Mysterio’s career. It ended with footage from 2 weeks ago where Mysterio suffered an eye injury by courtesy of Seth Rollins. Rollins thanked Rey for his sacrifice for the greater good of Monday Night Raw and volunteered to induct him into Hall of Fame. Rollins faced Aleister Black (accompanied by Humberto Carrillo) in a singles match after the end of the talking segment and was defeated via rollup pinfall. Seth and his disciples, Austin Theory and Buddy Murphy, beat on Black and Carillo after the match.

The US champion, Apollo Crews, defended his championship against Kevin Owens. Their hard-fought match ended in a double disqualification when Angel Garza and Andrade attacked them during the match. This led to a tag team match with Owens and Crew defeating the duo of Andrade and Garza via pinfall on Andrade. In the next segment, Street Profits went Bowling with the Viking Raiders, where they were defeated by 131-121. This was a fourth non-wrestling match between these two teams in the last four weeks. In the next singles match, Billie Kay faced off against one half of tag team champions, Nikki Cross. Billie defeated Nikki in under 5 minutes using a sitout urnage slam for the pinfall.

Charly Caruso interviewed Drew McIntyre backstage. McIntyre said that he has never backed down from a challenge and will defeat MVP later in the night. He promised to welcome him to Claymore Country, referring to his finishing move, Claymore Kick. Rey Mysterio appeared via satellite TV to address Seth Rollin’s comments from an earlier segment. He said that Seth had caused him and his family immense pain in the past few weeks. Rey’s son, Dominick, was also present and threatened Seth Rollins with a demand for an eye for an eye. In another segment, R-Truth reclaimed 24/7 championship when he defeated Rob Gronkowski while Rob was making a Tik Tok video at his home.

In the next match for the night, Nia Jax squared off against Kairi Sane. Kairi was defeated comprehensively by Jax with the use of her Leg drop to the throat finisher. There was a backstage promo from Randy Orton after this match. He claimed that he is the best in-ring performer in WWE and will defeat Edge at WWE Backlash with an RKO. WWE Raw women’s champion, Asuka had a single’s match against Charlotte Flair. Asuka was defeated by Flair via count-out and attacked after the match by Nia Jax. In the main event of the show, Drew McIntyre used his Claymore Kick to pick up a victory against MVP. Bobby Lashley attacked Drew after the match and put him into Full Nelson submission hold. McIntyre tried to fight out of it while the show ended.

This week’s Monday Night Raw was a pretty good show. Seth Rollins stood out as the best performer on this show with his wrestling ability and charismatic promo.
