The Juventus striker, Cristiano Ronaldo, becomes the first footballer and only the third sports star to become a billionaire. Tiger woods and Floyd Mayweather are the other two athletes to achieve this accomplishment.
According to the stats released by Forbes, Ronaldo earned nearly £85 million from his wages and endorsement deals. However, his annual wage earnings were short by £3.5 million, as he took a pay cut due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It is estimated that the former Real Madrid player has pocketed nearly £500 million throughout his career from his wage alone.
Ronaldo’s major source of income
Though wages are the major source of income for the Portuguese superstar, he earns a good amount of money through brand endorsement and his other ventures.
Ronaldo earns around £36 million every year in endorsements, the majority of which comes from Nike, with whom he has a lifetime contract. The forward also has his own company: CR7.
Ronaldo also makes a good deal of money from his social media activity. Cristiano Ronaldo is currently the most followed sports star on Facebook and Instagram. Cristiano makes around £1 million per post on Instagram, which is more than any person in the world. Ronaldo made more than £40 million through his Instagram posts.

Lionel Messi, the friendly rival of Cristiano Ronaldo, is also expected to cross the 1 billion mark next year. The Barcelona star made nearly £84 million in wages and endorsement deals, with brands like Pepsi and Addidas.

However, Ronaldo wasn’t the highest earning player of the season. The footballer was edged out by the tennis ace Roger Federer. Federer made around £86 million in the past year.
