WWE recently fired Paul Heyman from his position as WWE Raw Executive Director. He used to push fan favorite wrestlers to prominent roles within WWE. One of these superstars is the current WWE Champion, Drew Mcintyre. Vince McMahon handpicked Drew McIntyre to be a future Champion a decade ago. However, this only came to fruition at Wrestlemania 36 this year. While McIntyre’s success can be attributed to his work ethics, there is no denying the fact that Heyman fully backed him as WWE Champion. Therefore, McIntyre’s championship reign can be in jeopardy with Heyman’s Firing
The current low TV ratings and no live audience due to the COVID-19 pandemic can lead to McMahon changing certain plans. Those plans might lead to taking the WWE title off McIntyre’s shoulders. With Heyman not present to advocate for Drew McIntyre, these plans can come to effect sooner later than later. However, various sources reveal that Shane McMahon is an ardent supporter of McIntyre’s work and his championship reign. That might tilt the odds in Scottish Psychopath’s favor.
If there is one thing that I have learned from WWE is that plans can change suddenly. The last decision rests in Vince McMahon’s Court. McIntyre losing WWE Championship would have felt like a senseless plan a few weeks ago. However, the current shift in the backstage roles may lead to different creative directions for the current WWE Champion. Dave Meltzer, a journalist from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, has an opinion on this. He pointed out that Mcintyre might not be safe even though Vince McMahon likes him. Drew McIntyre will go one on one against Bobby Lashley at WWE Backlash. There are chances that he might not walk out as WWE championship after Backlash.
