Spotify, the major music streaming app, has now notified its users that it’ll be rolling-out lyrics along with songs soon, but only in select regions. While it is true that Spotify has occupied a large space in the market today, it still is behind other music streaming apps like Apple Music and Google’s new YouTube music.
A report from the TechCrunch stated that Spotify would be adding a brand new feature of real-time lyrics in 26 counties starting from June 30. While it is true that not covering other countries would not result in a loss, it might result in a decrease in the number of listeners due to below bar area coverage. There were reports of such trials in 2019, but it was only in 2020 that Spotify decided to opt for a permanent change.

Similar to Apple Music, Spotify is placing the lyric icon at the bottom of the now playing screen, ensuring the language being displayed matches the original song lyrics. Spotify has stated that the late arrival of this feature is a result of complexities around lyrics and licensing. It is thankful for a partnership with Musixmatch, which finally led to the arrival of this new feature.
One major thing that has been noticed in the country list released by Spotify is the absence of the hegemon, the United States. As a matter of fact, it has surprised most of the users in the States.
The list of countries that will have this special feature is stated below :-
- Argentina
