OnePlus Nord: Display, RAM, cameras and other specs confirmed

For the past several weeks, OnePlus has teased the viewers with the release of its new budget smartphone. OnePlus promoting it is a budget smartphone, but the features are still competing with the other premium smartphones out there.

Shawn L., OnePlus Nord’s head of product, has posted in the official OnePlus forum confirming the 90Hz display of this midrange mobile. “Of course, for a OnePlus device to be Fast and Smooth, it needs a high refresh rate display. We introduced our first 90 Hz display on the OnePlus 7 Pro last year. Since then, we’ve been working relentlessly to optimize our 90 Hz technology for the best user experience. One of the biggest improvements we’ve made has come from the touch response rate we’re able to achieve from our 90 Hz display technology. Touch sampling rate basically measures how fast a screen responds to your every touch, swipe, and scrolling gesture per second.” He said in his post.

He also confirmed that it would have a higher touch sampling rate than the previous OnePlus 7 models.

“With Nord, we’ve upped its peak touch sampling rate from 135 Hz on the OnePlus 7T to 180 Hz for specific tasks like gaming, where the timing of every input can decide whether you finally take down a fearsome boss or succumb to its wrath once more.” He added.

We already know that it’s going to have a Snapdragon 765G chip, which was confirmed earlier this month. The is also going to feature a 12GB RAM version.

Imaging director Simon Liu has also confirmed the cameras on another post on the same forum. “After months of product planning, internal discussions, and testing, we decided that Nord should have six cameras – four on the rear, and two on the front. On the back of Nord you’ll find a 48 MP Sony IMX586 sensor, an 8 MP ultra wide angle, a 5 MP depth sensor, and a macro sensor. Turning Nord over reveals a 32 MP main selfie camera and an additional ultra wide angle.” He said.

“Nord is also the first OnePlus phone to come with two selfie cameras. Accompanying the phone’s high-resolution 32 MP primary sensor is an ultra wide angle with a 105° field of view so you can fit in more people, or just take a really roomy-looking selfie. We decided to introduce this additional sensor as a response to feedback from our fans and participants in our Open Ears Forum.” He added.
