Avatar: The Legend of Korra is coming to Netflix on August 14

On Tuesday, Netflix announced that Avatar: The Legend of Korra will be streaming on Netflix USA from the 14th of August. Just two months ago, a prequel to this show, Avatar: The Last Airbender, started streaming on Netflix.

Avatar: The Legend of Korra was earlier only available on Amazon Prime Video and CBS All Access. The show focuses on Korra’s journey as an avatar as she learns to master all bending of all four elements. Korra is the successor of Aang, and the show is set 70 years after Avatar: The Last Airbender. Though the show was widely received, fans still believe that it didn’t live up to the original series.

Avatar: The Legend of Korra aired from 2012 to 2014 on Nickelodeon and then It is only quite natural that Netflix wants to stream all the Avatar related shows as they are ramping up production of the live-action remake of the original show. However, the live-action remake of the show has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Netflix is planning on holding open casting calls for the live-action remake, and it is being hinted that voice actors may be joining the cast for minor/major roles.

The original TV show’s co-creators, Bryan Konietzko and MikeDiMartino are leading the production of Netflix’s live-action remake of the show. We also do know that Dan Lin has been confirmed to executive produce the show.

The show is expected to stay true to the original sequel, however, it is also expected that certain parts of character development will be further emphasized to fit Netflix’s 40-60 min episode format. It will be interesting to see how the live-action remake will add on to the story of the original while combining episodes together into a new format. Until the live-action comes out, entertain yourself by binging The Legend of Korra on Netflix!
