Chelsea beats Manchester United in the FA Cup Semifinal to reach their 14th FA Cup Final. This also means that they are going to face their cross-town rivals Arsenal in the finals on 1st August. However, the talk of the match was United keeper David De Gea and his error that helped Chelsea win.
United Manager ditched his regular cup keeper Sergio Romero and started De Gea, but the Spanish international made two horrendous mistakes on either side of the half, which gifted Chelsea the match.
Chelsea’s first goal came in the 11th minute of the extra time in the first half. De Gea made a flimsy effort to stop Oliver Giroud’s flick but couldn’t stop it. The second goal came in the 1st minute of the second half. Mason Mount’s tame 20-yard shot was fumbled in goal after a weak effort to stop it by De Gea.
United’s miseries were increased when captain Harry Maguire turned in a Marcos Alonso cross into his net with 15 minutes remaining on the clock. Chelsea were in complete control of the match from the first minute as they comprehensively ended United’s 19 matches unbeaten run in all competitions.
United pulled one back with 5 minutes remaining on the clock as Bruno Fernandes converted from the spot.
Lampard eyes silverware in his first season at chelsea.
Chelsea is now in a great position to end their season on a great note, a FA cup win, and a 3rd position in the Premier league table would be a great finish.
There can be no questions against Chelsea’s victory as they dominated from the start to the finish. They easily subdued the influence of highly talented Bruno Fernandes. Chelsea was more creative, energetic, and aggressive form the first minute.
To win the FA Cup, they need to go against the challenge in Arsenal. Arsenal haven’t had a great season until this point; however, they have been playing great football in recent time.
Manchester United’s bad day at the office.
Manchester United come in with high hopes into the semifinals. They were high on confidence following an unbeaten run of 19 games. Fans were starting to see the effects of the rebuild by Solskjaer, but they must know its still a long way to go.
However, United must not lose their confidence now as they can still finish in the top 4 in the premier league. United have a chance to win a trophy this season in Europa League.
However, David De Gea’s form is a concern for the United Manager as the keeper has been highly error-prone in the last one year. This gives the impression that the United keeper is going into a permanent decline or going through a very long slump.
United has had too many good days, and fans have got a glimpse of the old United that they desperately wanted for such a long time. However, one bad day should not be a reason to change that.
