WHO hopes COVID-19 to be over in two years

As of now, the coronavirus has infected more than 23 million people and killed over 800 thousand people. In the recent online briefing, the World Health Organisation said that it hopes to finish this pandemic in less than two years and warns about the second peak in the countries where it is receding.

This is a piece of positive news regarding the pandemic, which has become very rare these days. He said that they would be able to contain it quicker than Spanish flu.

“We have a disadvantage of globalization, closeness, connectedness, but an advantage of better technology, so we hope to finish this pandemic before less than two years. Utilizing the available tools to the maximum and hoping that we can have additional tools like vaccines, I think we can finish it in a shorter time than the 1918 flu,” WHO’s chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said.

WHO recommended that everyone should be careful and keep using masks. In fresh guidelines developed in cooperation with UNICEF, it said children should wear “a mask under the same conditions as adults, in particular when they cannot guarantee at least a one-meter distance from others, and there is widespread transmission in the area.”

While some countries are already reopening after the pandemic in many countries like India, South Korea, and Brazil, cases are rising continuously. It is a crucial time for all these countries, and people in these areas should remain extra careful and help their nations recover from the pandemic as soon as possible.
