Mulan is an American action drama produced by Walt Disney Pictures. It is a live-action adaptation of the Chinese folklore – “The Ballad of Mulan“. The initial release date for Mulan in theatres was 27th March 2020, and the world premiere was supposed to be held at Los Angeles on the 9th of March. But due to the ongoing global pandemic, the release date was shifted back and forth multiple times. Until Disney decided to go forward by releasing the film on Disney+.
Instead of reprimanding this decision AMC Theatres CEO, Adam Aron seemed to understand the problems being faced by Disney.
He said, “Just like AMC is under duress, Disney’s under pressure too, and at some point, they’ve got to monetize their movie product.”
Although he did give some suggestions in a recent interview with Variety. He hoped that Disney would think about adopting a model similar to Universal Studios, wherein it had the accommodation of showing movies in theaters for a shorter run before launching them on streaming.
