Tinnitus goes worse due to COVID-19, a study says

Tinnitus is a common problem causing the perception of noise or ringing in the ears. Also, buzzing, roaring, clicking, hissing, and humming is present. It occurs even without the external sound in the atmosphere. The triggering agents for the condition are variable, which includes inner ear damage, exposure to high pitch sounds, and also stress. It generally affects one in eight people in the UK, notably.

A recent study published in the journal Frontiers in Public Health found links between tinnitus and COVID-19. It included 3,103 participants from almost 48 countries reporting that they had hearing troubles. Researchers identified that 40 percent of people who suffered from COVID-19 had experienced worsening tinnitus. Although the study had done mostly on the participant with pre-existing tinnitus, there were some reports by the participants stating that the tinnitus develops due to the virus. Nonetheless, it suggested that it could also mark as a symptom for some people.

The cause of tinnitus is mainly due to lifestyle changes. People were made to social-distancing, put the mask on the face, and this creates the internal fear of catching the virus. Possibly, ending up in severe stress. Also, loneliness, trouble sleeping has added the points for tinnitus.

A respiratory virus has got to do more in the body than we never thought to. Unlikely, it causes a wide range of symptoms like loss of smell, which might link to the blood clots. The blood clot makes the cells necros, leading to nerve impairment. The same might hold good for hearing loss. So, both the internal and external factor favors the risk of developing tinnitus. Prior identification is necessary to treat the condition, which will do a great help for the people.
