Johnny Depp to exit the Fantastic Beasts franchise

After the disaster of a verdict for Johnny Depp in the High Court of England and Wales, Warner Bros. issued a statement on Friday that Johnny Depp will no longer be a part of the Fantastic Beasts 3 and that the role of Gellert Grindelwald would be recast.

This is a particularly tough blow for the actor, as both the studio and J.K. Rowling had previously stood by him and defended him from criticism.

The A-list actor, writing on Instagram, said that AT&T Inc’s Warner Bros movie studio had asked him to leave his role as villain Gellert Grindelwald. “I have respected and agreed to that request,” he said.

Rowling herself, being subject to domestic abuse, refused to comment on this matter.
