Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease and the global figurehead for the USA’s COVID response, told Axios that he was fearful of catching COVID at Trump’s White House.
Dr. Fauci admitted on Monday that he became “nervous” entering Trump’s White House at the end of his term, as it was a “sort of super-spreader location.”
Dr. Fauci is 80 years old and would likely suffer serious symptoms from COVID-19.
Several White House officials, including the former president, were diagnosed with the disease after a Rose Garden ceremony to celebrate Justice Barrett’s nomination to the Supreme Court.
Whilst Fauci was not present at that event; he repeatedly visited the White House as the leading health official on Trump’s coronavirus task force.
