Protests similar to those in June 2020 are planned to take place alongside the trial of Derek Chauvin, who was recorded killing George Floyd in May of 2020.
Chauvin, 44, is charged with second-degree unintentional murder and second-degree manslaughter. He was released on bail in October 2020, and the trial is expected to start in the coming weeks.
Rallies
Various rallies and protests are planned across the USA, including a march at Westlake Park in downtown Seattle.

Seattle Police are monitoring the events and have prepared for any upcoming civil disobedience that potentially could come from the protests.
It is hoped that with the change of the USA executive, the police will not be as heavy-handed on the citizens’ right to assembly.
A private security firm, Iconic Global Security, has said that they have seen tweets with indications of violence and are working closely with many businesses to ensure that damage and violence are kept to a minimum.
