Hampshire Bowl in Southampton has been picked to host the Grand Finale match of the inaugural World Test Championship. ICC(International Cricket Council) has made an announcement regarding this on Wednesday(March 10th).
To ensure that the potential impact of COVID-19 is minimized for all those who take part directly or indirectly in the match, ICC and ECB(England and Wales Cricket Board) have held a discussion and discussed various possibilities before finalizing on Hampshire Bowl.
“As the world’s first fully bio-secure cricket venue, it has shown itself capable of delivering international matches to the highest of standards, even against the backdrop of a global pandemic. I am sure the finale of the ICC World Test Championship will be a wonderful occasion.”, Tom Harrison, CEO of ECB, stated at the virtual conference.
ICC’s General Manager, Geoff, said that they had given themselves the best possible chance to organize the inaugural WTC Final successfully. He also mentioned that they would be trying to give their fans a chance to witness to best teams facing off against each other to claim the Test Championship.
