The United States of America, Japan, and South Korea have collaborated to pressurize “North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic missiles program”.
Last month, North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the sea flouting UN resolutions. The trio has condemned the affair and has sought to eliminate the nuclear program.
According to The Guardian, “Jake Sullivan, President Joe Biden’s national security advisor, conducted a meeting with Suh Hoon and Shigeru Kitamura, diplomats from South Korea and Japan respectively at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland”. The three officials expressed their apprehensions regarding the nuclear missiles. In addition to that, they emphasized the strict implementation of UN security council resolutions to maintain peace and harmony at the Korean peninsula. Furthermore, there are no indications of any developments regarding the Annapolis talks.
Owing to the recent nuclear test in Pyongyang, Biden has forewarned North Korea about the consequences of defying the robust UN security council resolutions. Along with that Biden also castigated former US President Donald Trump on his fruitless efforts to diminish contentions between the two nations. However, the Biden administration is yet to disclose its plan of action to deal with North Korea.
Following the talks on nuclear weapons, the officials also discussed the Wuhan-originated Coronavirus, climate change, and the military crackdown in Myanmar, etc.
