The next leg of IPL is going to be held in Ahmedabad, and everyone felt that this would be a fresh and new wicket so they would get to see a few high-scoring matches. Both the skippers also expected the same, and KKR skipper Morgan won the toss and elected to bowl first. But the pitch was a massive surprise to everyone.
It was not as flat as expected, and it was apparent that it was not going to be a high-scoring game. PKBS openers struggled and made only 37 runs in the first six for the loss of a single wicket.
From here on, Punjab Kings just kept losing wickets continuously, and their innings never took off. At one point, It was looking like they won’t even reach the three-figure mark. A few decent hits from Chris Jordan at the end took them to a reasonable score of 123/9 at the end of their 20 overs.
KKR openers fail to make an impact
Nitish Rana was dismissed for a first-ball duck that too of a full toss. The dismissal was so bizarre that even the bowler Henriques was hesitant o celebrate. Shami dismissed the opener, Gill, in the net over with a straight ball, which hit Gill on the pads.
Sunil Naraine, who came into bat next, didn’t last long as he was also gone for a duck courtesy of an outstanding catch by Ravi Bishnoi.
From here on, Rahul Tripathi and Eoin Morgan played well and built a good partnership of 66 runs, and Rahul was dismissed in the 11th over, but by then, the match was set p for an easy KKR win.
In the end, KKR won the match comfortably with 20 balls to spare Eoin Morgan ended with a score of 47*.
